Lyra likes to explore the duality of human nature and moral grey areas. She is a realist fantasist-- she writes about real things in a strange, strange world. She could fly really high in her dreams.
She has been an awardee of the Judith Royer Excellence in Playwriting Award, Horticultural Playwrights Workshop Fellowship, finalist for Playwrights' Center Core Apprenticeship, and semi-finalist for the National Playwrights Conference. Currently, she's under commissions from Adventure Theatre MTC and Silk Road Rising Theatre. As a filmmaker, Lyra's shorts have placed in Hollywood Boulevard Film Festival, Chinese American Film Festival, CKF International Film Festival, etc. Her teleplay has made it into the second round of the Austin Film Festival. She is a recipient of the Nostos Screenwriting Retreat, a freelance scriptwriter at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and a proud Television Academy Alumna.
Lyra is fluent in English and Mandarin. She has taught adults and children Mandarin lessons, and provided cultural consultation for Silk Road Rising Theatre and Super Deluxe Production Company in the past.
